I know that the inside of our pc's get very dusty inside and clog up with dust especially inside the fans which can slow down the pc's performance and even make the pc reboot if it has been affected too much.

How often do you take the back of your pc and clean it out?

I should be doing it but I'm not taking the risk of opening up my laptop. I am afraid I will damage one of the tiny parts jammed inside it and I will not be able to go on the computer for a long time.

Therefore, I just blow into the vent to clear it smile.gif It may not be very efficient, but what other choice do I have?

Interesting topic cool.gif

The machine i had now i built in December 05 (early xmas present to myself) ...

Anyway about two months ago the PSU started to let out a faint burning smell ohmy.gif , I had dusted the inside of the machine twice iirc (about once every six months including fans) but forgot about the inlet vents on the inside of the PSU blush.gif (they were quite clogged) and i ended up putting another one in as i didnt trust it after it had started smelling and overheating. Anyway i learned my lesson now biggrin.gif

So once every six months or so i will now spend a good hour removing it outside and cleaning it all out smile.gif

Around a year ago on our other pc the same thing happened but also there were sparks and the pc went off. We were lucky that the motherboard did not fry too. blush.gif

I have a "high velocity 9 inch fan" blowing right into the side of my case (no side panel on). I have heat issues and I really need a new case tongue.gif

I use the fun air cans (psssssssssss) a lot. It might be hot, but it's clean!

Honest answer. When it either stops working or otherwise needs taking apart. And it's frightening how much gack gets in there. I'm surpriised there aren't things living in some of the computers I've seen. (well maybe there are).
